Week 3 Short analysis of News photo
Images of a Dunalley family clinging to a jetty were among the dramatic scenes from Tasmania's
bushfires.
Just take a glance of this photo without noticing the photo caption, what do you think this family
was doing?
At first, I was misguided by the facial expressions of the rightest two child that they were enjoying
some kind of water-related activity. In comparison to other escapees, they were too tidy and placid. Together with
the dark and yellowish colour as if in the twilight, (One of them even wearing sunglasses!) I really
thought they were in a holiday.
I bet this photo was shoot by father of this family, because he was the only missing in this photo.
Assuming this family escaped from home, but there was no reason why they took the camera. So
they should be on holiday nearby or even in the bush in Tasmania. And fortunately, seems no one
was hurt. Otherwise, there should be worries and sadness on their faces, this was another reason
why I guested photographer should be their father.
Woman's face brought me to the reality that in fact they were suffering from a bushfire. What was
appealing me the most is the big contradiction of that woman and the children. She was nervous
and distressed, which shown me love and care of being a mother. And the composure of children
might be came from a situation they were already used to. This reminds me that we must cherish
our fortune, as it does not always knock our door. Things just we cannot see, does not mean it is
not happening. There are thousands of millions of people living in these life-threatening situation, I am too lucky to live in HK. So don't complain or compare of what you have
missing , but appreciate of what you owned.
