These two photos were taken during the 177th Boston marathon on April 15, 2013. Both of the photographers want to share the same subject at the beginning- the worldwide grand occasion, but things could change materially if the taking time of images were different.
The former one captured the beginning of Boston Marathon. With the supports from friends and family behind, all candidates stroke for their best to participate in the event after the ring and signal released by judges. No matter which nations they were from, no matter how old they were, the only prospective for them were to enjoy the annual ceremony.
However, even though the photo were taken at the same route, things went totally different in the second photo. It was not the beginning of ceremony anymore, on the contrary, it was the start of a tragedy. Three bombs started exploding one after another at the track of the marathon. All participants, security guards and audiences were astonished by the big sound and started raising their heads to figure out the situation. The sky wasn’t shine like before but became gray, just like the result at the end: three people died and more than hundred people got injured during the attack unfortunately.
