Anti-smoking ad
I was in tears by the time this adv finished. This was my first time being so touched by an ad.
This is an ad telling the disadvantages of smoking and persuading people to quit it. Usually, this kind of ad shown on TV or posters is just listing out the facts people already familiar with. For example, lung cancer, NPC or shorter life expectancy. Its meaning much more like threatening than persuasive. Obviously, the target audiences are smokers and their relatives or friends. But the mirror effect of that kind of ad isn’t works. Because no smokers face the reality.
This ad become popular and appealing because of its documentary-like style, kids are the solely actors, and all the sorts are taken in real. No celebrities or disgusting sorts, but it is much more effective and thought-provoking.
The most successful of this ad is letting those smokers spoke out the disadvantages of smoking from their mouth, which shown they all knew it but never faced it. It is so fascinating to see how the adults react and explaining to the kids, it reminds those adults also.
We can see the extraordinary angle of the video shooting, it should be taken in hidden. This shows there is no makeup of scenes and how successful is it. (some adults in ad put cigarette back in box immediately)
Moreover, this ad is so different from others. Some anti-cigarette ad is showing disgusting pictures about people suffering from illness or cancer. In compare, this ad is simple but much more meaningful. Only a few words can let the adults review on what are they doing.
I think this is the best ad I have ever seen, and we need more of this in this world.
